Rachel Gregg is a multidisciplinary artist based in Exeter NSW
Most at home amidst nature and in the company of animals.
Illustration, writing and photography is a way for me to express the deep connection I feel to wild places and the fragile species that inhabit them, human or otherwise.
My inclination for drawing was likely inherited from my artistic father and instinct for photography from my great grandfather; a portrait photographer in the mid 1900s. Yet, it was his granddaughter, my intuitive mother, who embraced my appetite for both. Her steady supply of art materials and books, cultivated in me an endless fascination with illustrated stories. And gifting me her camera in my early teens, I became infatuated with immortalising the essence of being, and the shadows in between.
I have traveled the pathways of the performing arts, visual arts, arts administration, animal rescue/rehabilitation and motherhood. My current practice combines traditional drawing and watercolour painting with digital techniques, to create equal parts authentic and ethereal pieces.
I feel incredibly fortunate to live and work under the vast skies of the Southern Highlands, NSW, Australia, respectfully acknowledging that we are on magical and irreplaceable Gundungurra Country.
